Does it handle medical terminology?
Yes. The AI transcription model handles drug names, conditions, and medical terminology accurately. It's not perfect (no system is), but it gets it right the vast majority of the time. And you always have the original recording if you want to verify anything.
Is it compliant with Australian privacy law?
Yes. Smart Pager is designed with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles in mind. All data is stored on Australian servers (AWS Sydney). Access is logged, storage is encrypted, and retention meets medico-legal requirements. Read our full privacy policy.
Can my practice manager set this up?
Absolutely. Signing up takes about 10 minutes. Once your dedicated number is active (usually within 24 hours), your practice manager just sets up call forwarding from your office line. We include a setup guide with everything they need.
How does it compare to a human answering service?

Transitioning from another provider?

Switching is simpler than you think. Most practices just redirect their existing call forwarding and they're done. Your clients keep dialling the same number they always have.

The switch itself (10 minutes)

  1. Sign up and get your Smart Pager number
  2. Change the forwarding destination on your office line from your old service to your new Smart Pager number
  3. Update your recorded greeting if you have one (e.g. "For after-hours messages, please stay on the line")
  4. Call your own number after hours and test the full flow

If you want extra peace of mind, run both services in parallel for a week. Forward to Smart Pager, and only cancel the old service once you're confident.
